October 15 marked another innovation release from Apple: the M5 chip. This processor is a new milestone in processors for the company. With M5, the performance of Apple products is even better, with artificial intelligence improving the speed of task fulfillment significantly. Users can already experience the changes in MacBook Pro and iPad Pro—here’s what stands out.
Understanding the M5 Chip
Apple stepped up its game with the new chip. The 3-nanometer process technology and optimized energy efficiency are already more than just a simple upgrade. While the M4 chip provided users with fast AI performance, the M5 chip takes it to a completely new level.
Component | Characteristic | Its significance |
CPU | 6 cores are responsible for the efficiency, and 4 cores for overall performance (10 cores in total) | An increase of 20% in performance compared to M4 |
GPU | 10 cores in total, each equipped with a neural accelerator | Ray tracing of the 3rd generation is built in; increased graphics performance up to 30% compared to M4, or up to 45% in applications if ray tracing is enabled |
Neural Engine | 16 cores in total — boosts neural accelerators in the GPU | An increase in LLMs and AI-related function performance |
Memory | 153 GB/s of bandwidth | A 30% increase compared to M4, enabling faster information exchange and better operation handling |
The GPU and CPU transcend the usual power capacity of the last processor, featuring neural accelerators and an accelerated neural engine. In addition, users can expect to transfer memory data a lot faster.
Same Convenient MacBook Pro, But With a Powerful M5 Inside

Users who love the usual MacBook Pro design don’t have to worry: Apple changed the inside, but kept the familiarity of the laptop. Now, with the M5 chip, it has become the first choice of social media influencers, IT professionals, and video editors. The powerful component makes coding, rendering, and other labor-intensive tasks fast and responsive. At the same time, the battery life holds up, so users can continue working without recharging.
- Fast processor — compared to the M4, the M5 chip can handle even more tasks. 20% more power is generated by the 10 cores, completely changing the pace of coding and creative applications for the better, even allowing for opening multiple at once. Whether you are working in Python, Rhino, Notion, or Jira, any developer, designer, or other businessperson can be confident that their MacBook Pro will handle the tasks without strain. The 150 GB/s memory bandwidth is a perfect addition for visual creators creating AI and 3D models.
- Enhanced graphics — the GPU in M5 deserves praise: the M4 delivers 1.6 times slower performance than the new chip when it comes to using professional applications and gaming. Each core comes with a neural accelerator, which prompts faster processing speeds in image generation and recognition, as well as video and speech analysis. In comparison to the first M1 chip created by Apple, M5 requires 6 times less time to complete an AI task.
- The accelerated SSD subsystem — M5 makes working with various files two times faster. During the last release, importing and exporting large images and videos or launching LLMs was a lot slower.
- Upgraded storage — 4 TB in the new MacBook Pro.
- Outstanding battery life — up to 24 hours while working on labor-intensive tasks without charging. Perfect for remote work and projects on the go.
- Bright, high-definition screen —14-inch Liquid Retina XDR. In HDR, users can expect brightness up to 1600 nits, while SDR provides up to 1000 nits. An anti-glare version is available for purchase.
Working on a MacBook Pro has never been this convenient. It has everything the user would need: 6 speakers with clear sound, an array of ports, a 12 MP Center Stage camera, and macOS Tahoe.
Thin iPad Pro With an Improved M5 Capacity

The iPad Pro looks the same on the outside as before, and people who use it are already familiar with it. Yet, the 5.1 mm device is a lot more powerful now that it has the M5 chip inside. The capacity of the table is comparable to that of the laptop.
- Similar to the MacBook Pro, the new M5 iPad Pro includes 4 cores responsible for performance, and 6 for efficiency. A 10-core processor is combined with more than 150 GB/s of memory bandwidth. This is a 30% increase from the last version. With the new iPad Pro, users can easily work on different tasks at once, receive AI generation results faster, and play games without borders.
- The graphics have also significantly improved. The processor features neural accelerators in each core — important for artificial intelligence, voice recognition, creating complex images, all at impressive performance speeds. Compared to M4, M5 processes tasks 3.5 times faster.
- AI capacities are also increased by the Neural Engine. This component improves Foundation Models-based applications and Apple Intelligence features. For example, users can quickly generate an image in Image Playground.
Gamers will also feel the difference by using the new processor. It renders 3D ray tracing 1.5 times faster than the M4 chip. Moreover, the visual elements such as light, reflections, and shadows appear more realistic thanks to the 3rd-generation feature.

- iPad Pro has the best display of all gadgets — the Ultra Retina XDR. Not only is the brightness and contrast outstanding, but the ProMotion and True Tone transform the usual experience into a dream. Users can expect 1000 nits for standard brightness options and 1600 nits for HDR. Those working with bright lighting or a variety of colors can invest in the nano-textured glass to minimize the potential glare.
- New C1X cellular modem, also featured in the iPhone Air.
- Just like the design, the dimensions of the iPad Pro stay the same. Users can get the M5 release in 11 (5.3 mm) inches and 13 (5.1 mm) inches.
- The gadget provides a total of 10 hours of battery life (video playback over Wi-Fi included).
- iPad Pro comes with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 for wireless connection.
- RAM/Storage is stunning and can handle even the biggest projects in DaVinci Resolve or Unreal Engine. Users can choose between 12 GB/256 GB, 12 GB/512 GB, 16 GB/1 TB, and 16 GB/2 TB.
- Both dimensions of the tablet support fast charging. The 11-inch version takes just 30 minutes to get to 50%, while the 11-inch one takes 35 minutes (if a 40-60W adapter is used).
- Accessories supported by the new system include the Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C) styluses, Magic Keyboard, and Smart Folio magnetic cover.
- Users can enjoy 12 MP on both the main and front cameras.
- iPad Pro 2025 features a fresh iPadOS operating system.
