What is Apple’s Limited One-Year Warranty?
The American brand’s website states that Apple guarantees that its products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 12 months after purchase. If the owner of an iPhone, MacBook, Apple Watch, or other branded device has a complaint about the quality of the product, they can contact the seller. In turn, the store that sells the goods on an official basis must diagnose the device.
After that, they can offer one of the following options:
- free repair with the installation of original spare parts;
- return of the gadget with full reimbursement of its cost to the buyer;
- replacement of the device with a similar one.
It is important to understand that the warranty for iPhones, AirPods, Macs, and other devices applies exclusively to original equipment. It does not cover the replacement or repair of third-party devices (charging adapters, for example).
When Does Apple’s Warranty Not Work?
Warranty service does not cover damage to equipment during use. For example, the iPhone warranty does not cover free repairs after a fall, impact, or physical damage.

AppleCare+ is an extended warranty service offered by the company as a paid subscription. It provides coverage for accidental damage. The service may vary depending on the specific plan and country. AppleCare+ typically covers:
- accidental damage — damage caused by drops, mechanical pressure, or spilled liquids;
- battery malfunctions — battery replacement if capacity falls below 80%, at no additional cost;
- loss — replacement of the device with a similar new one in case of loss or theft (up to twice a year).
This type of insurance is available as a subscription with regular monthly or annual payments. However, this format often includes a deductible: you pay a small portion, and the warranty covers the rest.
Checking Your Service Eligibility
The warranty period for Apple devices is valid for one year from the date of purchase. If you want to find out how long you can expect free repair service, use your device’s serial number. It is located on the box and in the system settings (“General” — “About This Device”).
Then go to checkcoverage.apple.com and enter the serial number in the special field. After the data is processed, you will see the name of your device, information about it, and the warranty service expiration date. Important: you can use this verification method when purchasing Apple gadgets from private sellers.
You can also simply go to the gadget settings and select “AppleCare and Warranty” in the “General” menu. Here you will find information about all devices on which your account is activated.
Does the Apple Warranty Cover the Charger?
The warranty covers original accessories for the same period of 12 months. This includes adapters and cables that come with the device or were purchased separately.
